Education:

1.PhD: University of Amsterdam, Netherlands (2015).Thesis: ‘Burden and Outcome of Neonatal Diseases and Conditions at a Rural District Hospital Setting in Kenya’. In this thesis, I delved into the burden and trends of neonatal diseases, inpatient management and triage, aetiology of neonatal infections and long-term outcome. Overall, I demonstrated that there was a need to remodel our approach on how best to prevent neonatal morbidity and mortality in low income countries, suggesting a robust five prong model that builds on the prevailing three-delay model. Furthermore, my PhD studies provided critical evidence that informs existing recommendations by the World Health Organization on triage and inpatient management of neonates.
