Over 20 years of experience in humanitarian and development works, the last ten years at country level leadership positions with two INGOs - Norwegian Refugee Council (N and Malteser International (MI). Main focus - refugee response, IDP, partnerships, organizational capacity building, child protection, youth development. Currently working as National Director for SOS CV, based in Kampala-Uganda
I have extensive experience in humanitarian and development sectors. Over the past 20 years, I had the opportunity to work with such reputable INGOs as save the children, plan international, ZOA international, Norwegian Refugee Council and Malteser International and now SOS children's villages. My experiences are in both fields of programs (e.g. Program Advisor in Zoa) and management/leadership (e.g. Area Manager/Country Representative in NRC). Situation analysis/assessments, refugee response, child protection, program set-up, strategy development and staff/organizational capacity building were some of my areas of focus.
M.A Degree Organisational Leadership (Azusa Pacific University-USA),Post Graduate Diploma in social development and policies on poverty reduction (Netherlands), B.A. in History (Addis Ababa). I have attended several short-training opportunities including security, refugee protection, etc.
My experiences include 3 years in private consulting I founded in 2007. This had given me a unique opportunity get a deeper understanding of the private sector, markets and services, employing/building own team, training, capacity building, delivering quality products on time...etc. I had also the opportunity to set up a local NGO and serve as its Board Chair for the first term of 3 years.
